ULMA Packaging has been designing and developing packaging products and services since 1961, innovating to provide solutions that meet the needs of our customers. That is why we have our own research centre, where we work on the most advanced design and manufacturing technologies.

FLOW-VAC®

Using patent-pending technology, ULMA has developed a simple but brilliant solution to automate the feeding of a belt vacuum chamber on both sealing bars. Packages are sealed only on one end and prepared to be transferred to the buffering belt of the vacuum chamber with the open end facing both seal bars on the vacuum chamber. A 90° transfer system pairs the packages to the buffering belt of the vacuum chamber so that both seal bars can be utilized. If the products are not small enough to be paired, an auto-detect system will load the product as a single item. This automated system increases productivity and reduces labor costs. The packaging system is ideal for the meat and cheese industry

Ulma : global vertical flowpack solutions

In doing so, they use a forming tube which forms and fills the bag. The foil is pulled and sealed around de tube. The machine pulls the bag and the product is dropped into the packaging. The packs are sealed in between the loads. This type of packaging is used when packing loose products with a variable volume (think of rice, pasta, spices, prepacked lettuce, pet food, cereals, liquid and frozen products, but also non-food products such as screws and nails). While plastic films are normally used, more and more machines are being equipped with new technology that allows the use of paper-based films, thus offering a more sustainable solution. Thermoforming machine

A thermoforming machine starts from 2 film rolls, a bottom film and a top film, to form a complete package. The bottom film is heated and drawn into the mould to form the cavity or tray. The product is then placed in the tray. Before the pack is sealed, gas can also be added (for MAP packaging), or the contents can be vacuum drawn. At the end of the process, the packs are cut clean. The film residue is also collected by the machine for easy recycling. Ulma Packaging has a wide range of thermoforming machines. Depending on the film used, these machines can form both rigid or traditional flexible vacuum packs. Skin type packaging is also one of the options for this flexible solution.
