The new European packaging legislation (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, or PPWR) presents a number of challenges in terms of compliance. During this presentation, you will find answers to some specific questions and learn more about the impact of sustainable and/or recycled food packaging on the sensory quality of food products. All types of packaging materials will be covered (paper and cardboard, plastics with or without a mandatory recycled content, etc.).
How can food and packaging manufacturers gain an understanding of the odour impact of their sustainable packaging materials? What sensory and instrumental tests can be used to measure the impact of (recycled) packaging on the sensory properties of packaged food products? What information is included in the Declaration of Conformity (DoC)? How do packaging-related flavour off-notes arise in foodstuffs and how can such taints be avoided?
