As a neutral, not-for-profit organisation, GS1 Belgium & Luxembourg plays a crucial role in improving efficiency, safety and sustainability in the retail through the implementation of globally recognised standards such as the GTIN. These standards help companies manage accurate and consistent product information, which is essential to comply with regulations and improve visibility and traceability in the supply chain.
Our mission?
To create a more efficient supply chain by offering global services for identifying, capturing and sharing data. More than 9,000 companies are GS1 Belgilux member, which is managed by the sector.

GS1 SMART-Box

QR code by GS1
The QR code with GS1 Digital Link contains the product number (GTIN) in its URL structure, and possibly other information such as expiry date or batch and lot number. Thanks to the QR code and the GS1 Digital Link standard, you can decide which information to show depending on the user – consumer, retailer or even regulator – and depending on the context in which the code is scanned. In addition, the information can be updated at any time, without needing to change the QR code or the packaging!
